Daybreakers return with another record for the deep heads, welcoming Chicago legend Vick Lavender for Essential Traxx Vol. 1. A musician, producer and DJ with over thirty years experience, Vick’s music lives in that space where house, jazz and soul converge.
In the 90s, Vick joined Glenn Underground and Boo Williams in the influential Strictly Jaz Unit, helping to shape a sound that still echoes across dancefloors today. Since then, he’s built his own world through Sophisticado: music rooted in live musicianship, deep feeling and that unmistakable Chicago soul. It’s real house music.
On the A side, 1.4.4.5 (Where It Started) lays down that characteristic Chicago groove: rolling percussion, Rhodes chords, and bass lines that unfurl like a live jam.
