Luckily, we still have some music… Laurent Garnier's COD3 QR is back in May with a stellar four-track vinyl release featuring American luminaries K' Alexi Shelby and DJ Bone, alongside French wizard Marc Bedikian, and one of COD3 QR's mainstay artists, Squal G.
K' Alexi Shelby is a prominent figure in electronic music, and with a decades-spanning career, he has wielded significant influence over House and Techno. He has collaborated with many well-known artists throughout his career and has remixed tracks that are now staple pieces. Cultivating his expansive musical catalog has poured over into albums and the three labels he runs. It has also led to legendary collaborations with artists including the Pet Shop Boys, Robert Owens, Kenny Dixon, Roy Davis Jr., Maurice Joshua, Terry Hunter, Joe Smooth, Steve Silke Hurley, Tyree Cooper, Ron Trent, Glenn Underground, Larry Heard, DJ Pierre, Carl Craig, Felix da Housecat, Marshall Jefferson, Will Smith, and countless others. Already respected worldwide as a true legend of underground House, his talent will be further cemented by listening to his opening deep and soulful track, "Flame."
A geek at heart with a passion for music, Marc has forged his sound universe over decades. He grew up listening to the melodies of Prince before becoming immersed in 90s Hip-Hop culture. At the dawn of the 2000s, he dove into the vibrant world of electronic music, a revelation that marked a decisive turning point in his career. From Detroit Techno to the experimentation of Richie Hawtin, the raw energy of Josh Wink to the power of Gary Beck, the finesse of James Holden to the eclecticism of Laurent Garnier, his influences are multiple and shape his musical identity. With "Qui Peut Le Plus," he pays homage to these influences, blending hypnotic rhythms, deep textures, and characteristic tension peaks. His approach, whether in the studio or behind the decks, is a perpetual quest: to thrill, surprise, and transmit the pure emotion of electronic music.
The flip is led by Detroit legend, DJ Bone. It is no coincidence that those two letters always precede Bone's name, because first and foremost he is a DJ – in the truest sense of the term. When he plays, it's as if the decks and mixer become a physical extension of his body. From his seldom-filled residency spots to after-hours gigs, he smashes every single one like it's his last. DJ Bone plays as much for his own enjoyment as for the crowd. His dedication to the craft of dance music and DJing is pure and intense. No hype or trends, just relentless drive and passion, which he has also poured into his productions over the years, most notably on his Subject Detroit and Further labels, but now also on COD3 QR with the peak-time Detroit Techno track "D.D."
Producer and manager of Slates Records, Squal G is a French artist who has been passionate about electronic music since the 90s. He initially practiced his art as a DJ, but a few years later, he finally turned to machines and computers. This allowed him to progress with his productions and remixes. He never tries to stick to one style, which, depending on his inspiration, can lead him to be more or less hard while remaining in the spirit of techno. After releasing "Waiting 4U" last year and "Face" in January, he is back for his third round, with the closing track "Parallel Sound".[info sheet from distribution]
