12"
genre: HOUSE - DEEP HOUSE - NY HOUSE
label: KING STREET SOUND Cat.No: KSSV007
King Street Sounds returns with the fifth sampler in the series. This release features four outputs from six house music aficionados including Mood II Swing, DJ Romain, Jon Cutler, Studio Apartment, Quentin Harris and Pal Joey in his guise as Loop Trick. The EP opens with “Driving Me Crazy” from the NYC duo Mood II Swing, originally released in 1995 and still sounding impactful 30 years later. Next up, DJ Romain & Jon Cutler with “De Ja Vu” (Mr.V Roots Main Mix) featuring Jeannie Hopper who delivers a mesmerizing vocal. This cut is built for dimly lit rooms. The B-side opens with “Beat Freak” (The Shelter Dub) from Loop Trick (otherwise known as Pal Joey). An already outstanding record has been given a tasteful touch from NYC house legends Blaze. Closing out this wonderful EP is Studio Apartment with Terrance Downs with “We Are Lonely” (Quentin Harris Vocal Mix). The NYC legend adds his skillful touch to the Japanese duo’s soulful offering. Once again King Street Sounds has delivered a powerful EP that every respectable collector and DJ should have in their collection. [distribution info sheet]
