Black vinyl repress - plus original mix on B-side / rainbow silver foil sleeve

Perhaps you were already expecting it. After the limited one-sided vinyl edition, this 12-inch pressing includes the original mix remastered on the B-side.

The original, at the time the second release on the Harthouse label, is a timeless classic and made history in Frankfurt music. Thirty years later, Sven Väth and A.C. Boutsen's track has lost none of its charm and will surely continue to deliver goosebump moments.

Techno is too often described as timeless, but while most of it eventually evaporates into the ether, there are some riffs, melodies, and breakdowns that remain forever etched in our collective consciousness. The legendary Frankfurt label Harthouse boasts a good many of these moments, but you have to go back to 1992, to the opening notes of the Metal Master classic "Spectrum," to find the source of this special one-sided remix release.

The common denominator and catalyst for all this is, of course, Sven Väth, co-creator of "Spectrum" and founder of both Harthouse and Cocoon Recordings, while the independent variables in the equation are Bart Skils and Weska, who lend their considerable talent and vision to this sublime reinvention.

Arriving like a thunderclap, sparks immediately fly as crackling vocoder riffs, silky ride cymbals, and soaring arpeggios build an atmosphere of tense, expectant anticipation before giving way to that iconic melody: a love letter from Frankfurt to Ibiza, forged in metal, soaked in distortion, yet pulling at the heartstrings: the perfect soundtrack to any chemical sunrise.

It’s a powerful reinterpretation that pays the warmest tribute to the original, and despite the relentless groove, there’s still room for sentimentality: an invitation to momentarily pause and reflect on the journey so far, as the lavish breakdown floods the dancefloor. But not for long, the bubbling bassline soon emerges from the euphoria and the track picks up its pace, pushing us towards a new, unexplored spectrum of possibilities. [info sheet from distribution]
