2021 black vinyl repress incoming! Hot on the heels of 20 Electrostatic Soundfields, Deepchord steps up once again with the double A-side Prana/Tantra. Deepchord leaves behind the ambient/beatless works of his last album and brings his characteristic deep and dub sound to these tracks.
Prana glistens as ethereal pads drift in and out, making way for a subtle, almost deep house beat that gently pulses along, underpinned by tribal-like percussion. A delicately detached synth pattern floats in and out, playing with the idea of techno in an imperceptible way, whilst remaining well within the confines of his usual sound. Simplicity is key to this track, and Deepchord allows it to slowly evolve, playing with reverbs and fx that give the track a lush, organic sound. Tantra exudes a more assertive vibe than its predecessor. Delicately layered, deeper, and sharper synths open the track, as percussive elements, shrouded in fx, form the bedrock of the groove. Underpinned by a typical Deepchord-esque dub bassline, this track again evolves to perfection, almost without the listener noticing the subtle changes that give Tantra a deep, emotional flow.
