Following the rapid sell-out of Alfredo's joyful selections double LP, Rebirth continues with the second EP of rare, loved and unreleased gem samples.
It kicks off with Dubtribe (Sound System) - Sunshine's Theme, which costs a fortune on Discogs if you can find a copy, before moving on to Max Berlin - Elle Et Moi. A minimal and truly simple disco track à la Giorgio Moroder or Cerrone, Max Berlin (Jean-Pierre Cerrone) is actually Cerrone's brother!
On the flip side, we have The Woodleigh Research Facility - Borderland (Andrew Weatherall Mix). Borderland is a splendid collaboration between Nina Walsh of the Woodleigh Research Facility and viola virtuoso, Sarah Sarhandi. Andrew Weatherall gave Sarah's strings an energetic electro glam touch. A breathtaking "Pomp & Circumstance" march, kosmische and motorik style, with a hint of Depeche Mode / New Order. To close the EP, some 90s British deep house bliss from Acupressure - We Are the Future (Instrumental Mix), again a high-priced offering for Cogs.
