"Spirit Of House" is a 90's Chicago-inspired groove. It's an uplifting, dancefloor-ready cut from two of house music's finest. The unmissable vocals of the legendary Gene Farris add a touch of authenticity – he's a true Chicago legend whose contribution to the house scene is indisputable. He's been pushing musical boundaries for nearly three decades, collaborating with leading labels and artists globally including Relief, Dirtybird, ViVa Music and Defected.
ATFC has long been a much-loved label fixture and a household name in the scene. He has 3 UK top 40 hits under his belt and has remixed tracks for the likes of P Diddy, Missy Elliot, Simply Red, Faithless and Dido. He's been inducted into Pete Tong’s Essential Mix hall of fame, and the BBC Radio 1 tastemaker himself described ATFC's productions as 'bordering on genius'. This collaboration is a match made in heaven. "Spirit Of House" is a deeply playable and enjoyable house record from two of the scene's most established producers.
"R U" features an infectious piano hook, gritty drums, and the deep, powerful vocal of Gene Farris himself. It's an essential, driving house cut and we're proud to give it a home on Toolroom.
Whilst sampling can be a thorny subject in dance music, "Tech House Kinda Thing" is a great example of how digging deep and being creative can be extremely rewarding. The vocal sample on this record comes from another titan of house – Harry Romero. It's taken from an event promo video that Harry recorded himself and posted on his Instagram page. Being the creative soul that he is, ATFC heard it, sampled it, took the idea to a Toolroom writing camp last November, and voila, this record was born! The record itself is an energetic club workout, produced with the detail and finesse you'd expect from a legendary producer like ATFC. With driving beats, quirky twists and turns, and that unique spoken vocal, this is truly a special record!
"Not Enough" is an uplifting, funky and feel-good track. It oozes the ATFC warmth and Mia Mendez's vocal adds a touch of sunshine! Her vocal is super powerful and within seconds of hearing this record you're transported to a sunny terrace!
